What’s new in Santa Cruz…
Since last general update was posted, new info. below:
- We have purchased a car.
- We had our first dinner party.
- We had our first weekend visitor. Looking forward to having more visitors.
- Our lemon tree is growing, no lemons yet though. All of our plants are doing well.
- Music scene is still fab., so far, we have seen Tuvan throat singers, local indie rock, Romanian Folk, Japanese Pop singer, Mexican punk and Benin Jazz musicians. If only P Diddy and Snoop’s peace tour would make a stop here, it would be perfect.
- Finally, went on the Santa Cruz roller-coaster on the boardwalk.
- Discovered very cool hiking path near our apartment.
- Both P and N have new haircuts. Hobbes has red highlights from sitting in the sun all day.
- Cleaned all closets…now have to clean rest of apartment. Not sure actually if closets were actually cleaned or if junk was just shifted from one place to another, work in progress.
- Still in “no fog” season, should be clear until summer. Out of rainy season, although, this winter there was very little rain.
- P starts teaching his third quarter this month, undergraduates.
- Going to gym almost daily. Yoga has been unfortunately lacking though, looking for new studio here to join.
- N finished reading Chikamatsu’s plays, now reading Hannah Arendt’s Origins of Totalitarianism.
Goals for the summer are:
P - learn how to surf and play banjo, not at the same time.
N - work on knitting, go to wine country, learn how to dance the samba and initiate a grassroots movement that results in the non-violent eradication of the current corrupt and malicious California health insurance system currently in power.
- N.
